Details: This position is 75% innovation and 25% technical support. We are looking for a forward-thinking individual-someone who can figure out better ways of doing things. We have a contract to perm position for a Technical Support Specialist/Junior Project Manager for client of ours in Chapel Hill, NC. We are looking for extremely professional candidates with excellent interpersonal skills as this position requires constant interaction with our faculty. This position includes:35%:Day-to-day Faculty Support. Onboard all new faculty and support existing faculty as they teach their classes 100% online. This support will include defining standard configurations, installations of software, and resolving issues. To do this, the person will need to be readily available to faculty which may include non-core hours work. However, it is not expected that this position will be on-call.25% Innovation. Determine the technology needs of the faculty in the program as the course materials grows and changes. Once needs are determined, the position will be responsible for finding a solution to those needs. This includes managing the project to address the need which could be an evaluation of options, an evaluation of products, or developing a custom solution. This position would own the proposal and make the final recommendation to management.40% Project Management. As solutions are determined and approved, this position will be responsible for handling the project to move forward on a new solution or to solve an existing issue. This may include the following items:• Managing statement of work including all associated communications with stakeholders• Managing project plan and associated resources• Managing the implementation project should proposal be acceptedCOMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position. • The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft environments, specifically knowledge in areas of Microsoft Windows including Vista/Windows 7. Additionally, the candidate will need strong hands-on experience supporting desktop configurations including familiarity with imaging. The individual will need demonstrated project management experience as well as ability to work independently but within guidelines. The capability to take a broader technical knowledge and apply that effectively to problems within the business community will be a key success factor.
